The DIAMONIS project (Dutch Inland AIS Monitoring Infrastructure) concerns the delivery, realization, implementation, management and maintenance of an AIS shore-based infrastructure for maritime navigation which uses the Dutch inland and coastal waterways. The system is meant to be used for the monitoring of ships equipped with a transponder which meets the international RIS standards for Europe.
DIAMONIS is a part of the application/system architecture which supports the traffic management of Rijkswaterstaat.
DIAMONIS will be linked to the AIS systems of the Dutch waterway managers, in such a way as to be able to create a traffic image with complete coverage. This traffic image will be put at the disposal of the VTS in traffic posts, radar systems and traffic management applications. The aim is to provide the traffic image for other RWS systems.
